Jean-Christophe Keck

The results of Keck’s editorial work have been performed across the globe, particularly in Germany, where they received the German award for music edition twice in a very short period of time. The Radio-France and Montpellier festival in France saw the premiere of his edition of Offenbach’s great romantic opera Les Fées du Rhin. The revival of this masterpiece (recorded on 3 CDs by the Accord label) was celebrated by the press as a unique event and received the Prix Michel Garcin of the Académie du disque lyrique. Jean-Christoph Keck is an artistic adviser to numerous people in the world of music, the most important of whom is Marc Minkowski (Les Contes d’Hoffmann in Lausanne, La Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein in the Paris Théâtre du Châtelet etc.). He regularly inspires or contributes to radio productions.
Graduating from the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris and the University of Aix-en-Provence, Jean-Christophe Keck received a particularly wide-ranging musical training: musicology, conducting, composition (with Pierre Villette), singing (Christiane Eda-Pierre), piano, writing, etc. Parallel to working as a singer (tenor at the Opéra-Bastille, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Lyon oprea, etc.), he dedicated himself from an early age towards a career in conducting. He has made recordings for film, radio and television including various opéra-bouffes and film scores of his own composition. Recently Keck conducted the Orchestre National de Montpellier as they played symphonic works from Jacques Offenbach for a French label. Since 1998, he has been the musical director of Opus 05, the chamber orchestra of the Départements Hautes-Alpes with whom he performs numerous concerts with various programmes. He is also the musical director of the opera festival of Châteaux de Bruniquel. In 2004/05, the Paris Concerts Pasdeloup is organizing an ‘Offenbach Season’ to which Keck has substantially contributed. A festival and various CD recordings will hopefully follow…
